Early this week The Verdin Company’s service team arrived at the Owego Central Fire Station in Owego, NY. With only 1 inch to spare, they removed a 813 lb, 110 year old, historic MeNeely Bell from the tower! Dr. Sidney Wells Thompson presented the bell to Village of Owego 110 years ago on December 11, 1911.
“These guys know what they’re doing. They’re the pros and they pulled it off without a hitch today, literally.”
Patrick Gavin, Volunteer, Owego Fire Department
Thanks for the compliment. We appreciate the trust put in The Verdin Company to both:
- restore your historic #BronzeBell, and
- fabricate its new hardware and ringing equipment.
A video of the removal is available in this story by Fox 40 News WICZ-TV.
