Mr. Peanut and Leo the Lion have been added to the historic glockenspiel at King’s on the Square in downtown Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Peanut is the icon that symbolizes Planters, that was founded by Italian immigrant Amedeo Obici and partner Mario Peruzzi in Wilkes-Barre in 1906. An anonymous donor made a gift to King’s College to restore the glockenspiel with Mr. Peanut. Mr. Peanut and Leo the Lion, King’s College’s mascot, appear every hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays. A third figure, a coal miner, also was developed and will debut in the future.
